Lottery Winners Heating Up in Southern California!

Share:

SACRAMENTO – It was just a normal day for Victor Argueta as he was pumping gas into his car at an L.A. County gas station. The fuel dispenser machine, however, wouldn’t print out a receipt, so Argueta went inside the gas station to get one. When he arrived at the register, Argueta said that one of the California Lottery’s new $10 Plu$ the Money! Scratchers® caught his attention.

He pointed at the ticket and told the cashier, “Give me one of those!” Argueta proceeded to scratch the ticket off as the cashier printed out his gas receipt. “I won a million dollars!” Argueta exclaimed. He promptly asked the cashier to scan his ticket to make sure, and after doing so she responded, “Wow, you’re right!” Argueta said he immediately called his wife to tell her the good news and they both cried with joy. The lucky winner said he plans on using the money to finally be able to buy a house!

The ticket was purchased at the Shell gas station located at 1107 South Hacienda in Hacienda Heights (Los Angeles County). This lucky retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus just for selling the winning ticket. (The retailer bonus is not subtracted from the winner’s jackpot prize.)

But wait, there’s more! The weather isn’t the only thing heating up. Southern California lottery players have been on fire lately winning huge Scratchers prizes. Below are some additional California Lottery Scratchers winners over the last few weeks.

Maria Gomez won the top prize of $750,000 playing a $10 Mystery Crossword Scratchers ticket. That lucky ticket was purchased at the A & A Liquor Jr. Market, which is located at 17311 Roscoe Boulevard in Northridge (Los Angeles County). Gomez said she plans on splitting the money with her children.

John Miller claimed a $2 million top prize playing our $20 Crossword Deluxe Scratchers ticket. That winning ticket was purchased at Frank’s Market, which is located at 5026 North Maine Avenue in Baldwin Park (Los Angeles County). This lucky retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Mauricio Hernandez Francisco won $750,000 playing a $10 Mystery Crossword Scratchers ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Andy’s Market & Liquor, which is located at 1605 Alabama Street in Huntington Beach (Orange County).

The winning doesn’t stop here! All California Lottery Scratchers come with a second chance to win another great prize of up to $25,000 during our weekly draw. Just subscribe to our 2nd Chance Program and submit any non-winning Scratchers ticket code for a chance to win.

This is all part of the Lottery’s continued effort to give out more prizes, create more winners and earn more money for California public education.

The California Lottery is a $6 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2016-17, the Lottery created 83 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
