  • He Left His Million Dollar Ticket Where?

  • We can’t stress it enough. The California Lottery urges players to immediately sign the back of their tickets in ink and keep them in a safe place. After all, each ticket has potential value. That’s why we are as stunned as anyone about what one man did with his Silver & Gold Scratchers® ticket. The one that netted him $1 million before taxes!

“I put it in my pocket,” Adrian Martinez said. And after that, California’s newest millionaire told us he simply went to work. No, really! Can you imagine rolling up to your job after discovering such good fortune? “I went to work and I was thinking, ‘one million, one million,’” Martinez said. “And then at lunch time I was thinking and thinking. I couldn’t eat.”

Now THAT we can understand. Martinez admitted that he was nervous. After all, he said he never expected to win that kind of money, but he did. And after sharing the news with his grown sons, he did the unexpected once again with that ticket. “I left it in my car,” Martinez said. Before you shake your head in disbelief, you’ll be relieved to know that he did eventually claim his ticket at the California Lottery’s Santa Ana District Office.

Martinez told us he is putting careful thought into what he may do with his winnings. That includes possibly helping his children get homes and sending his granddaughter to college.
